Do you like driving? Many people like the cars but not the actual experience of pressing down the pedals, switching the gears and zooming down the open highway. Other people, however, can’t think of anything they would rather be doing than climbing into their well loved car, and driving off to explore their local area from the comfort of the driver’s seat.
If this is you, then Jaguar have clearly seen you coming from a mile off. I suppose this demonstrates that they know their brand inside out, and consequently that they understand the mentally of the people who share the Jaguar obsession with cars and high end luxury. If you own a new or used Jaguar then you are even more likely to have this attitude about driving your car than owners of other brands, because you will know just how it feels to drive a luxurious and expensive car around on a day to day basis. And it feels good!
Because they understand this, Jaguar have put together a couple of “Epic” trips for Jaguar owners to take around the UK. One of these just focuses on the luxury of the beautiful Cotswolds, but the other one promises to take you around all the best sights that the UK has to offer. For me, the Cotswolds would be the preferred option, to break me into the whole idea of a road trip much more gently. Thanks to the surprising amount of space in the Jaguar’s boot I would probably be OK for luggage on a UK wide trip, but for the sake of my sanity this gorgeous corner of Oxfordshire should easily do just as well.
So, where does this Epic Trip take you and your treasured Jag?
Well, the route winds you from one posh hotel to another, so that you can enjoy the drive and then enjoy the luxury of your hotel surroundings. It starts you, as it means to go on, in the imposingly beautiful Cowley Manor, a beautiful Victorian mansion that you will reach after winding serenely though leafy lanes and pretty paths. This modern yet traditional hotel is a beautiful venue to explore the local footpaths and generally relax.
From here you are taken to various beautiful locations, each of which is reached following a rambling and utterly tranquil drive through the depths of the Cotswolds. Some are huge estates isolated in mile upon mile of green private countryside, whilst others Are tiny little places where you will be looked after completely. The thing they all have in common is the relaxed and regal air, the knowledge that when you arrive you are somewhere where you can truly relax.
Finally you end up at the hedonistic Grove hotel in Hertfordshire. This is the sort of place where you don’t have to book, because the huge Georgian house boats a might 230 rooms. They recommend capping off your automotive adventure with a weekend stay here, which I’m sure most people will be happy to enjoy!
